(LA Trend) — Check out some unique wares and support a worthy cause at the same time. Every week, a wide range of vendors and sellers gather at the Melrose Trading Post to offer visitors a unique collection of handcrafted artisan goods, eclectic arts and crafts, vintage fashion, antique furniture, and plenty of rarities you won’t find anywhere else. From new and eccentric to classic and collectible, there’s bound to be something to suit everyone’s taste.
Hosted by the Greenway Arts Alliance, the admission and vendor fees, along with your support, provide much needed funding for Fairfax High School arts and leadership programming, like helping secure jobs for students and funding field trips, sports equipment, beautification projects, teacher programs, theater productions, and much more.
And don’t worry, the Greenway Arts Alliance has taken extra steps to ensure that the Melrose Trading Post operates in accordance with the Los Angeles County Public Health Order to provide a safe environment for visitors and vendors. By expanding into previously unused areas on the Fairfax High School campus, the market is able to spread attendees and vendors out in a more secure fashion while still offering a fun experience for everyone. Below are a few of the new changes that’ve been made:
- The market layout has been redesigned with a wider walkway to encourage social distancing, hand sanitizing stations have been placed throughout the campus, and new entrances and exits have been installed.
- Several tables have been put under trees to provide shade and safe distancing from vendors and walkways.
- There will no longer be any live music, which has been replaced by music that will be provided by individual vendors around the marketplace.
- The usual food & beverage vendors are no longer allowed at the moment, but attendees can still get refreshments from a selection of local food trucks.
The Melrose Trading Post is held every Sunday at Fairfax High School, located at 7850 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90046
