Walking on Water: Stand-Up Paddle Boarding in Malibu

(LA Trend) — If there’s one thing Malibu doesn’t lack, it’s the fun activities you can have on and in the water. And while Malibu may be more famous for its surf spots, it’s also widely considered to be one of the top paddle board locations in the world.

It makes perfect sense, really; Malibu is packed with stunning coves and protected beaches that offer peaceful waters ideal for paddle boarding.

And now’s your chance to experience the unique beauty that the California coastline has to offer, thanks to Hana Paddle Boards and their stand-up paddle board lesson and tour package. Whether you’re a seasoned SUP pro or trying it out for the first time, you’ll marvel at gorgeous beach views while walking on water.

This lesson and tour will begin on the beach with a 15-minute rundown on standup paddle boarding fundamentals, including basic water safety and etiquette with other paddle boarders and surfers in the water. Spend the rest of the session out on the ocean soaking up the sun and checking out the sights.

The tour will launch from a famous surfing beach right next to Malibu Pier, and will take guests around the pier, the kelp beds outside the point, and then over to Colony Rock. Expect spectacular views of the Malibu area that you wouldn’t be able to see any other way, including those of the hills above Malibu Beach and even Catalina Island. Who knows? You might even catch a glimpse of a dolphin or sea lion or two while cruising the gentle waves. Because you’ll be exploring a marine ecosystem, you’ll be exposed to all kinds of wildlife you don’t get to see very often, like schools of fish drifting through the kelp forests beneath you.

This adventure is ideal for small groups, around 6 to 8 people, making it a great weekend family outing, or get together with friends or coworkers.

Package includes paddle board, paddle, and wetsuit, and typically lasts about 2 hours.
